This book is part of a series which tells very young children all about the members of a typical family. It explains to children what it is like to have a teenage sibling, and it will also help them to understand how children change as they grow older. It describes some of the aspects of a teenager's life, and the ways in which it differs from that of a child. The story is told in the words of a younger child who witnesses the events in her big brother's life. We see the teenager playing games and dancing with his friends, going to school and doing his homework. We also see him with his girlfriend, and notice the happiness and sadness their relationship brings them. Above all, he is seen as part of the family. There is a section for teachers and parents which includes notes on how to use the book with pre-readers and first readers, and suggested discussion points which relate specifically to the illustrations.
